About Us
NAPS, short for North American
Prospects Showcase, began as a
single weekend event in Syracuse, NY in
2004. It was created to give all
young hockey players a tournament in
which they could compete against some of
the best players from around the world.
Leap to 2008, only four years later, where NAPS
hosted 97 teams over a period of three
weekends. Our international competition
has grown every year as well where 5
teams participated including two from
Sweden, two from Russia, and an European
All-Star team (Europe Selects who won
’93 NAPS). On top of the strong
international competition, other teams
are coming in from all over North
America to create a very exciting event.
Heading into 2009, we expect our international
competition to continue to grow. It is
important to note that these teams are
also very competitive where all of them
have made the playoffs and one has
actually won the tournament. We also
intend to have a strong contingent from
all parts of North America including the
east, midwest, and western territories
of both the US and Canada.
We have been working hard to improve the level
of competition and will continue to do
so each and every year. We are
especially proud that more and more
teams and players from across the hockey
world are taking part of our annual
event. We are working diligently to
improve the quality of our tournament in
order to meet the high standards
expected by our friends and clients.
For the past three years, this tournament has been held at the
ESL Sports Center in Rochester, NY and
targets 11 to 15 year old hockey
players.
In 2008, we also started a Girls NAPS weekend in which we expect
it to grow as well and are extremely
excited to provide the same
opportunities to Women’s Hockey.
Our mission is to:
» Present a competitive AAA elite
tournament where top prospects will be
challenged to compete at the highest
level of competition.
» Provide exposure to our athletes, as
scouts from Junior Major, Universities,
and Prep Schools will be in attendance.
» Bring together national and
international teams in order to enhance
our level of competition.
» Connect with the local business and
hockey communities.
Thank you for your interest in NAPS and
hope you can join us in 2009!
